Loved the amazing Matterhorn view from our balcony. Room was a bit musty though.

The location is great, 2 km from an imposing mountain. What's more, it's in a great area so close to the Matterhorn and sunshine, Gornergrat express and 5 minutes from the train station in the middle of town.

Staff were extremely friendly and made you feel right at home. Room was spacious and had a great view. Breakfast was plentyful. Hotel had a lot of charm to it.
Can't fault the hotel, but tea and coffee facilities in room would have been nice.

Room felt a bit musty being next to the pool and the bed might be too firm for some.

Extremely friendly and excellent staff that turned it on for us upon request and luxury rooms with a balcony and a stunning view, for example.

The staff, especially Miguel, were super helpful. Loved the variety in breakfast, though the hot tub could've been a bit warmer. Such a great experience!

The Alpenroyal is built high on the western slopes of Zermatt. Our room had a spectacular uninterrupted view of the Matterhorn. The room was big, the beds comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. The meals we had there while not gourmet, were tasty, of good size and not excessively priced. We used and enjoyed the sauna, spa bath and heated indoor pool (also with a good view!) The staff were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely room with double aspect views and veranda overlooking town and mountains. Could lie in bed and look at the Matterhorn (if it hadn't been obscured in cloud!) Lift to valley level was very handy.

The hotel is located high on the hill above Zermatt and has an amazing view off the balcony. The hike would normally be extreme to get to the hotel, but they have arranged with the hotel across the street to use the cave/elevator combination that makes it easy to get to. The cave entrance is right above the Funicular entrance. The waiters at the breakfast spoke seven languages and were very helpful. The views of the Matterhorn off the deck were life-memory-creating.
Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I was almost going to give a glowing review of this hotel, but the fact that they limited coffee and tea in the room, forcing you to pay for top-ups, is just downright ridiculous. Breakfast options were quite sparse. I half expected a complimentary gesture given the inconveniences, but no such luck. Not impressed at all!

We were family of 3 ,daughter 11 yrs old. Initially there was some confusion regarding our booking .we realised later it was our fault. But nevertheless the lady at the counter provided us extra cot for our daughter free of charge thou we had not asked for it. We did not expect this good gesture. We had also arrived post lunch time but Miguel, the portugese guy at the hotel rustled up a good meal for us in no time and during our stay here we saw that Miguel was a real asset to this hotel with his positive vibes and customer friendly ways. He was funny too! The hotel room was real good, cozy ,spacious and the best thing was the breathtaking view of Matterhorn. U can see it from yr bed / pillow view. Amazing. Location is great. Easily accessible to zermatt centre within 2-3 min walk

great location but minor room issues
The view of the Matterhorn was amazing from our balcony. The breakfast selection was so good with diverse options each day. Staff were attentive.
The room had a touch of mustiness that could be improved.
